Pulled the trigger on the Sigma 18-50 and I feel like I was pieced back together as one.
Last week or so I had a meltdown on here and lot of you really helped me get over my anxiety with taking photos, not caring about gear, not having unrealistic expectations etc.
Though I felt great after reading all that, and taking some of the advice such as "just shoot" which kinda worked in a way to make me see that my lens didn't matter...I still felt an itch, or this sense of something not working or clicking. Maybe I fell into the "all I need is new lens" trap (if it is one), but I did my finances, worked it out, got 200aud trade in value for my kit lens, price matched in store to Amazon prices because another physical store listed it for the same, went out the door, had an idea for a photo to shoot through a flight of stairs and get the clock tower - and immediately some dude tells me that was a great shot, he didn't even see it, but I think he understood the composition, I hurriedly said thanks and walked away cuz I was feeling goofy aah new lens vibes, then I turned around to see him take the same shot on his phone. I didn't ask for this validation but I'm glad I got it cuz it felt like a good omen for getting a new lens that I thought about for weeks. Can't wait to get going with this set up - X-T30iii with the Sigma 18-50 f2.8
images are jpegs SOOC moments after exiting the store. I wasn't even happy with that clock tower shot but it's my first composition on this lens that got a genuine compliment (genuine enough that he framed the same on his phone)
