Who is the Fuji shooter?
I chose Fuji a long time ago for reasons that I’ve forgotten (I think I read that it was a good beginner entry system). I continue to shoot Fuji now because I’m familiar with it, but whenever I come into contact with pros, they never use Fuji. On the other hand, the pictures is this sub are a lot more inspiring and artistic than in other subs (granted, I spend the most time here so that may totally be selection bias. It’s also possible that Sony shooters are just posting in photography subs by area of interest and not their camera system, and Fuji shooters hang out in Fuji subs because they are devoted to Fuji).
It got me wondering who picks up Fuji (versus Sony or Nikon or Canon) and why.
I’ve personally been lusting after the Nikon Z5ii and am really curious about people who switch between multiple systems and what they notice as far as comparisons with Fuji.
I should note that I used to play with recipes a lot but lately I like editing my raws - I find the raw detail hard to pass up in favor of JPEGs. So that particular advantage offered by Fuji is not compelling anymore. I also have my rear command dial set for shutter speed and the front dial set to ISO, so I don’t care about the analog shooting experience (awkward to rotate dials on top of the camera while shooting, IME).
Still love shooting with my Fuji. But I have a wandering eye.
Some shots from Oslo, XF 18-135.
