Watson Mill Bridge 1885
Built in 1885 at a cost of $3228 by famous African American bridge builder, Washington W. King. Son of Horace King who was known as the Prince of Bridge Builders. Horace was born a slave that learned the trade from John Godwin. Their move to Alabama would also lead to King's emancipation in 1846 with the help of Godwin and State Senator Robert Jemison Jr. Going on to serve two terms in the Alabama State Legislature before he moved to Georgia and passed down his bridge knowledge and company to his sons.
