this celebration made me really emotional. the usa feels so unbearably heavy right now, but this day felt like nyc’s radiant counterspell. i’ve celebrated lunar new year with my neighbors since i was a little girl growing up in the bronx. witnessing the community gather to honor renewal and the possibilities a new year brings was what my spirit needed. the palpable joy, especially the children’s, warmed my cold heart. i hope you can feel that warmth in these photographs ♥️
