X100VI & VILTROX WCL-X100VI Short Review - 2 weeks in Oman
Hi there, for my birthday in February I got the wide-conversion adapter from Viltrox for my X100VI.
Initially we planned to travel to Malaysia in March, but due to the situation we changed our plans and stayed for 2 weeks in Muscat, Oman. We rented a car and visited some interesting places like Nizwa, Matrah, Wadi Shab and some more.
I took the occasion and “glued” the Viltrox WCL to my X100VI. I wanted to get used to it and to this new field of view. It converted the 35mm full frame equivalent from the X100VI to a 28mm equivalent. So not significantly wider, but a bit. On the other hand it adds some bulkiness and weight and wight to the camera, but far less than the TCL (Teleconverter; 50mm).
I can tell you, that I really loved it. Especially for travelling, it was stunning. The picture quality remained superb. There was only a slight vignetting at the corners, especially at the top right corner. But I really liked the wide field of view. I found it useful for a lot of occasions, especially when there is not a lot of space like in the animal market in Nizwa or between the canyons of the Wadi Shab. But also for simple landscape pictures it was nice.
Here are the pictures, feel free to give me some feedback or to follow me at instagram: “pipo\_snaps”.
